4-6th July 2008

'BIG F 08' is the 2nd ever International Guggenmusik Festival to be held in the UK.
Following on from our first event in 2006 when an estimated 5000 people filled the Quay at Wareham
on a hot summers evening and enjoyed their first taste of Guggenmusik.
This years festival sets to be even bigger and better than the last with five Guggenmusik bands on show!!
Our friends Frumptarn Guggen Band from Barnsley will be with us as they help to spread the word of Guggenmusik in the north of England.
Unbelievably, this years festival is also part of the celebrations for Gugge 2000's 10th Anniversary
so we hope you'll come along and celebrate with us on the 4th, 5th & 6th July 2008.
A full programme of locations and events will appear here soon but as a taster will include:-
Friday between 6:45pm & 7:45pm at Corfe Castle:-
If you love Guggenmusik and can’t wait till Saturday or Sunday we have a limited number of passes for the Friday
night rehearsal in the grounds of Corfe Castle. Each band will only play for a few minutes and will not be in costume
but if you want to see how we put the massed band performance together in record time why not email us
and we’ll see if we can get you in!
Saturday from 6pm Wareham recreation ground:-
Guggenmusik will hijack Wareham’s Saturday night Carnival celebrations!! The bands will have a purpose built stage and designated area for the audience.
Stage lighting will create a terrific atmosphere that will be a great evening for all the family.
There will be a whole host of stalls serving a variety of food plus a huge bar and not only will five great Guggenmusik
bands be on display but also we hope to have a special cabaret during the evening as well. If you need a break from Guggenmusik (or the kids do)
your ticket will also allow you entry to all other areas of the carnival area including side stalls and a fun fair.
All the bands will appear in full costume and perform a 30 minute set. The evening culminates in a massed band performance that will include at least 150 musicians!!
Tickets will be available here shortly at only £4 each with children under 16 FREE.
Sunday from 2.00pm in Bournemouth Square:-
Bands arriving in the Square from all directions and all playing as they parade past each other. Awesome!!
The bands confirmed are:-
Chottlebotzer www.chottlebotzer.ch
Chottlebotzer were our hosts when we visited Lucerne in 2002 & 2004. They also visited Bournemouth in 2002 where they were an absolute hit leaving their mark on us and on the people of Wareham. We hope they enjoy their return to England this year. Chottlebotzer have a unique style and we are confident that this years visit will prove a big hit with our audiences.
Rümliggeischter Schwarzebärg www.ruemliggeischter.ch
Gugge 2000 are absolutely delighted to be welcoming Rumliggeischter to our festival this year. They come from a small village outside Lucerne but are anything but small in number with over 50 members. This band were inspirational in convincing our bandmaster that Guggenmusik could be successful in the UK. Rumliggeischter are guaranteed crowd pleasers - don't miss em!!
Chaos Guggen www.chaosguggen.de
Wow, our friendship with Chaos goes from strength to strength and they will be back with us again for their third visit to England following on from successful visits in 2006 & 2007. Gugge 2000 will also be visiting them in their home town of Plochingen near Stuttgart in November this year to help them celebrate their 5th anniversary. We love Chaos's enthusiasm and power. We're sure you'll love em too!!
Frump Tarn Guggen http://www.barnsleysamba.netfirms.com:80/guggengallery.htm
We are really pleased to invite the only other Guggenmusik band in the UK to our festival this year. We met with them in January and we got on really well. Their home town is Barnsley and the band was started as a result of the towns twinning with Schwabish Gmund Germany. They create a fantastic and authentic Guggen sound that will surprise our visitors from overseas and will delight our audience
Oh – we’ll be there as well, doing our thing. We have quite a few new tunes coming along so if you haven’t seen us for a while…..

Make a note of these dates in your diary now, it's gonna be a weekend to remember!!
